I Herb’ en Loire - Travelling exhibitions
Inside the Longère
How not to fall back into childhood in front of these beds of herbaria? Found in museums, in schools or at the bottom of attics, these plant sheets, and other amazing collections of seeds, fungi, algae, mosses, woods are real treasures. They tell the story of these passionate men and lovers of plants, these scientists gone on expeditions in search of new species...
Launched in October 2015 and led by the University of Angers, the Herb' en Loire project has identified many herbaria conserved by institutions and individuals in the Pays de la Loire region. A promising raw material for historians and botanists!
This exhibition takes stock of this considerable inventory and shows the great historical and scientific interest of this heritage. Exploration of a territory
I Photographic herbarium by Carole Renard
In the park
Carole Renard uses old photographic processes to create series of plants. From the herbaria of the Natural History Museum of Nantes, she creates diptychs by searching for plants present on these boards in order to create bridges between past and present. «I traveled through towns and villages, having the joy of finding the plants that I had selected, almost in the same place or in a few villages, while feeling accompanied by the botanists of yesteryear.»
