From the castle of La Bouvardière only two buildings remain: a "manor house" whose construction dates from the 15th century and the castle itself built in the 17th century and remodeled in the 18th and 19th centuries in a classical spirit tinged with baroque.
It is also there that on June 29, 1944, 35 maquisards were tried, 27 of whom were shot a few steps away. The members of the remembrance committee of the maquis of Saffré will complete the presentation of the places by telling this story, taking you from the trial room to the monument in memory of these young people.
With the kind permission of CRS 42 and 82, installed at La Bouvardière, which exceptionally open their doors for these guided tours.
